I am going to just sit back and enjoy the ride. People used to complain about Babylon 5 and it turn out great.

Still the best show on television.

I respectfully disagree with the above. If the plot were only humans vs. cylons, the new BSG would simply degenerate into the one-dimensional plotline of the original 1970's and 80's series of "us vs. them."

Ron Moore's intent with his new BSG was to hold nothing back in exploring the true horrors of war. So far we've had genocide, plenty of betrayals, plot twists, rebellions on both sides, etc... The extra creativity is what separates the new BSG from the old. I don't want a linear story line... I want something that evolves and matures. So far, this series is delivering just that. Seriously, how many promotions did the original Capt. Apollo and Lt. Starbuck go through compared to their newer coutnerparts? How many shifts in politics did the old series undergo vs. the new one? How many long-running characters died in the old vs. the new? How many new faces have appeared? I hope you see the benefits of dynamic story lines...

Dood, I like B5 for the first half of the seasons.

Shar, I don't mind some humans against one another, but I think that the producers are pushing it too far. The best way to put it is that to me it seems like they are aiming for more of a reality show rip-off. I mean did they even wait one show before making the new human arrivals antagonistic?

I just finished watching the season final... holy cow, Ron Moore has pushed the envelope even further. BSG is cutting edge... no reality show even comes close to matching it. CSI, Survivor, Top Model, NCIS, Lost -- all of them seem so contrived and artificial. BSG is quite the opposite -- it's just story-telling done right. I appreciate the sheer unpredictability the show has taken so far... I definitely did not anticipate how they were going to end season2, and I seriously doubt the credibility of anyone outside the production crew who would claim otherwise.

If linear, predictable, safe story lines are more your taste, that is perfectly fine. However, I demand far more than cliche'd plot lines that I can trace with a ruler. BSG has had a few dull episodes, but not enough to discourage me from staying glued to Sci-Fi night. Some of its episodes cover topics that hit uncomfortably close to home (war, civilian casualties, corruption, etc.), and I can see such ugly topics also discouraging many who prefer to smell the roses. However, I'm quite the opposite.

PS: Sorry if the last post sounds a bit too fan-boyish. I really don't remember watching anything comparable for the last 30 years.

BSG is perdictable to me. Every show has two parts: an occasional reference to the psylons and the humans finding new ways not to get along.

I disagree with you too Winterclaw.

This show has really tried to work outside of the box. I can see how Baltar will become the "Puppet Leader" like in the Original....well with a twist of course.

When I watch Stargate SG1 I just laugh at it. It is so thin compared to BSG. I am really looking forward to the next season. At least they are not going to take 21 months like they did with the Soprano's. October is not that far away.

That only describes the show's general components, and none of its plot richness nor originality. Conflict is the root of BSG. That doesn't make it any more predictable than the weather.

So, which plot developments did you correctly predict?

-Admiral Cane's shooter
-The permanent commander of the Pegasus
-Hera's fate?
-Settlement of New Caprica and its subsequent occupation
-Six's suicide compromising the new settlement's location
-How long will the Pegasus remain?

Hindsight is always 20/20... I guessed only some of the above correctly, but not all.

If you can post some predictions about Season-3 that we actually verify in October, then you'll convince me about your previous assertions. Until then... we'll wait and see.

I no longer watch much TV anymore as well, only because I am very picky about what I watch. However, Sci-Fi fridays keep me glued to the TV after I'm done with work.

Same here. I have my BattleStar on Fridays. I won't even watch the other Stargate's...they are so thin story wise compared to Battlestar. I like Bill Maher on HBO. Certain HBO series that are on 13 weeks out of the year. I love the Daily show on Comedy Central. Everything I will watch I will record to DVR. As much HDTV as I can of those shows. That is why I ordered the DVR...is because it records in High-Def. For Example the movie The Incredibles in High-Def is jaw dropping beautiful. I am even fussy about something being shown not only in High-Def...but OAR (Original Aspec Ratio) as well. To see the thin black bars above and below the movie tells me I am seeing what was shown in the Theater. HBO has been known to "Zoom" in a High-Def movie and it will crop out the sides of the picture....that annoys me.

I just went to Best Buy looking for the BSG Season 1 + 2 dvd sets... and they were all sold out! I guess BSG's finally getting more recognition. Now I'm waiting for the Titanium series BSG ship models. They will be mine... Oh yes, they will be mine...

Yep... recording it tonight. Actually, the "new" Dr.Who series appeared briefly on our local FOX channel a few years ago, only to be quickly canceled. Still, I'll give it a fair chance before passing judgement.

BSG just won the Peabody Award, and this is the first science fiction TV program to get the award. If you want to read more about it, go to the sci-fi BSG website.

Mainly, I wanted to say how this show is different than any other show, especially the star trek stuff. First of all, if u start watching mid-season, u won't know what the hell is going on. There's no "resolution" at the end of each episode, where everyone is happy their safe again. And problems aren't solved with new "technological" solutions. This show is about people who are in a crazy situation, and it's about their emotions and how they deal with them. One can enjoy the show on a casual level, or they can watch from the beginning and carefully uncover even deeper layers of plots and character development. Because it has a sci-fi backdrop it gives a negative stereotype, but for people that don't watch this show, they are missing out.

Lastly--the season 2 finale? OMG. I never expected anything of the sort. At first I didn't like it, but then I thought, "wow, what a great plot driver. Now they have a completely different situation and more backdrop stories to work with, and new characters they can bring in for further main character development." Awesome job. The story never gets stale on this show.
